Tatihou, where is it?

Tatihou Island is part of the Cotentin Peninsula, located just opposite Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue harbour, in the Manche Département (on France’s north coast). Please note that boat crossings must be booked beforehand.

How to get there ?

  • By road from Cherbourg (eastbound): follow signs for Quettehou on the D901 (35 mins)
  • By road from Calvados (westbound): follow signs for Cherbourg on the N13, come off at Montebourg and follow signs for Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue
  • By train: stop at Valognes (21-minute drive from St-Vaast)
  • By bus: stop at Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Place Belle-Isle, on line C between Valognes and Cherbourg. Cap Cotentin bus information.

Once at Saint-Vaast, you can access the island by amphibious boat: climb aboard the Tatihou III which will get you safely there whether over dry land or by sea. (5 to 15 mins).
