Marine biology laboratory

Marine biology laboratory

This was once the island’s hospital, when the lazaretto was used as a place of quarantine. It was then repurposed as a marine station partnered with the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle for research on plankton, algae, marine mammals and fish. Today, the laboratory’s primary purpose endures. Various marine biology projects are conducted by science communicators specialising in the environment, for educational purposes.
